Today, the concept of sampling is rather commonplace and can be found in almost any genre. However, in the early days, sampling was a huge legal gray area. That gray area ended up costing one band millions as a six-second drum solo went viral: being sampled in hundreds, then thousands of songs without the creators even knowing–or receiving a cent.
