Lessons learned from North Korea before the Pyongyang Marathon

The hermit country has more secrets than it would like for the world to know. It rarely grants permission for foreigners to visit the country and when it does there’s always a chance they could be arbitrarily arrested.

So when the country opened its doors for foreign runners for the marathon held in its capital city, Pyongyang, journalist Ramsey Zarifeh left with memories not of the marathon, but of the people.
